Services and Facilities


  • All flats have a 24 hour call alarm facility enabling residents to contact a member off staff in an emergency.
  • Our own domiciliary care workers provide help and support to those who require it e.g. organise health appointments, make transport arrangements to get to appointments and advise on health issues.
  • A Welfare Officer is on hand to provide additional help and advice in matters concerning moving to Penrhos as well as living at Penrhos once here.
  • A Finance Officer deals with housing benefit claims, attendance allowance forms, state pension matters and with setting up standing orders for payment of fees. A cheque exchange facility is available in the cashier’s office whereby residents can exchange a cheque for cash.
  • Faults are dealt with by our in house maintenance team.
  • Two communal laundries are available for use. They include coin operated washers and driers as well as an outdoor clothes line.
  • The site mini bus provides transport to Pwllheli twice daily for shopping trips, as well as medical appointments and monthly away days.
  • Cleaners are available to help where residents find it difficult to keep flats tidy.
  • Residents are encouraged to take an active part in events that are organized on and off the site. These include bingo, keep fit, swimming, concerts, cinema visits, shopping trips, special national and religious events in the Polish calendar etc.
  • Rooms have an aerial socket for terrestrial TV and a phone socket which needs connecting on moving in. If a satellite TV system is required then arrangements can be made via a supplier in Pwllheli.
  • A library housing over 7,000 books in Polish and English is open two afternoons per week.
  • A small shop selling essential items and a range of Polish delicatessen items is open two lunchtimes per week.
  • Two common rooms have daily newspapers.
  • A large hall, the ‘Friendship Hall’, is used to provide entertainment for residents e.g. concerts, folk dancing, meetings. Regular car boot sales are held by the ‘Friends of Penrhos Home’ to in order to raise funds for equipment on the site.
